The dramatic landscapes of Botswana can be enjoyed year round, but as the seasons come and go the savannah transforms. Cool dry winters are ideal for spotting migrant birds as they head north for the winter, while the hot wet summers are ideal for game drives as predators bask in their time of plenty.

January - March

This is the ideal time to visit for photography enthusiasts. In January pray species enjoy a time of plenty and in February the water lilies are at their flowering peak. In March you’ll witness hundreds of migrating animals moving through the Savute marshlands.

April - June

As April rolls along the first signs of the changing season begin to appear. In May the nights are cooler and the breeding herds of elephant come to visit the permanent waters. By the close of the season winter is upon the Delta and the African wild dogs begin to search for their dens.

July - September

July brings sunny clear skies to Botswana and with August comes plenty of action as the herds become larger and the birds begin nest building. In September winter is all but gone and predators bask in their time of plenty.

Temperatures soar as October comes along and the animals begin to play their game of “eat or be eaten.” In November photographers rejoice; the visibility is just perfect and the action is never-ending. With December the rains return, and the thunderstorms are a sight to be seen.
